Students explore on-campus employment
Students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) attended the On-Campus Student Employment Fair on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Student Center hoping to find part-time jobs at the university.
Organized by the Office of Student Affairs' Student Employment Office, the fair helps students and AUS units to network to promote on-campus student employment opportunities.
"The main idea behind this employment fair is to gather students and potential on-campus employers in the same place that they can interact. The employing entities then inform the students of the benefits of being student workers," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi,Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. "Many students are not aware of the vacancies on campus, and this is a good way to inform them of the opportunities available to them at AUS," she added.
The administrative and academic units looking to hire student employees included the Office of Student Affairs departments, the College of Arts and Science; the School of Business and Management; the College of Engineering; the College of Architecture, Art and Design; the Achievement Academy Bridge Program; the Office of Enrollment Management; the Office of International Exchange Programs; the University Library; the Public Relations Department; the IT Department; Academic Computing; and the Office of the Registrar.
The employment fair also allowed students to practice marketing themselves to potential employers and to learn which skills and experiences increase their chances of securing employment.
