Students take part in Bahrain Universities Model United Nations 2015
Two students from the Student Leadership Program represented American University of Sharjah (AUS) at the 11th Annual Bahrain Universities Model United Nations (BUMUN) 2015, held November 26-27, 2015 in Al Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. At the event, AUS students had the opportunity to gain experience in public speaking, negotiation, research and debating and learned more about international affairs. Students prepared extensive research about their appointed countries in order to understand the political, social and economic status, which gave them a unique opportunity to learn about different perspectives, views, beliefs, values and cultures of various nations.
"I am honored to have taken part in Bahrain Universities Model United Nations 2015. From this experience, I have learned so much about the significance of strategic relations between countries and how important it is to work as a team in order to benefit the individual countries and the world as a whole," said Farah Al Sayegh, a senior student majoring in chemical engineering. "I was skillfully trained to resolve conflicts in a diplomatic manner. I also managed to enhance my public speaking and debating skills and I learned how to speak up and express my viewpoint in a respectful manner. I believe the lessons I have acquired from this experience have helped me grow as a person, where it developed my interpersonal and communication skills and boosted my confidence level, and I will carry these lessons with me throughout my life."
"BUMUN has been a wonderful regional MUN experience and we have been pleased by the outcome and feedback received from students over the years. We encourage more students to get involved in SLP and take advantage of the opportunities provided to them," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
