Sultan presides over AUS Board of Trustees meeting in UK
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), presided over a meeting of the AUS Board of Trustees, which was held in London on 6-8 December 2013. His Highness expressed his satisfaction at the substantial progress that the university has made in recent months in advancing its program of distinctive, high quality education for the Emirate of Sharjah, the greater United Arab Emirates, and the entire region.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan said that he was pleased with the development and progress made by the university in consonance with its mission. He also thanked the members of the board for their commitment to the university.
Following the meeting, Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, Acting Chancellor of AUS, thanked His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his continuous support and supervision of AUS. "It is His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi's guidance and advice that have played a major role in making AUS the leading provider of premier American-style higher education in the MENA region," said Dr. Hochstettler on the occasion.
Dr. Hochstettler said that during the meeting the board discussed numerous resolutions presented by its various academic and non-academic committees and took the necessary decisions to help the university proceed to the next stage of development in synch with its strategic initiatives.
"I am also pleased to report that the board also acknowledged a special report on endowed chairs and professorships, and endorsed the alternatives presented in the report as recommended by the finance committee," added Dr. Hochstettler.
