Top Lebanese singer Jahida Wehbe performs at AUS

With her silken voice, brilliant technique, scintillating performances and impeccable skills, top tarab performer Jahida Wehbe enthralled audiences at American University of Sharjah (AUS) yesterday night with her performance "Tajallíyát."

Known for her extensive knowledge of ethnic musical history, Wehbe's performance at AUS covered various styles of music ranging from classical and sufi to patriotic and traditional Arab music. Her music and melodies are inspired by the solidity of the lyric and from a profound feeling of the rhythm of the word. Setting poetry to music, Wehbe's vocals honor the words of Arab poets, combining the language of life and love with today's endless musical possibilities.

In addition to her musical talent and contribution, Wehbe is also a cultural icon acclaimed by millions worldwide and has headlined at the most prestigious venues all over the world.

The concert featured a musical arrangement accompanied by Elie Maalouf conducting the band. The event was organized by the Cultural Events Committee at AUS and the Lebanese Cultural Club.
