Trio Khimaira performs at AUS
American University of Sharjah (AUS) held an evening of eastern Mediterranean and contemporary European music presented by Trio Khimaira on October 31.
The trio drew on their different backgrounds and blended traditional Arabic genres, Latin American music and flamenco, developing a musical language that lay at the boundary of written and oral, composed and improvised forms.
Members of Trio Khimaira included Ziad Ben Youssef playing the oud, Luis Velasco-Pufleau on the guitar, and Bachir Rouimi on percussion. The evening also featured a special guest, Éric Duboscq, on bass.
The concert was organized by the Cultural Events Committee, the Moroccan Cultural Club and the Tunisian Cultural Club at AUS.
