AUS awards Active and Athletic Students Scholarships worth AED 453,697

In a celebration of student leadership and excellence, American University of Sharjah (AUS) has awarded scholarships for the current semester totaling AED 453,697 to 32 high-achieving students.

Recognized by the Office of Student Experience during a special ceremony held on campus, 16 students received the Active Student Scholarship and 16 student-athletes were awarded the Athletic Scholarship. These awards recognize students’ dedication to enriching campus life through community contributions and representing the university in varsity sports. Each winner is eligible for a 25 percent tuition scholarship. 

The certificates were presented by Dr. Tod Laursen, Chancellor of AUS, alongside Shaima Bin Taliah, Vice Chancellor for Student Experience and Rashed AlFalasi, Director of Financial Grants and Scholarships. The ceremony was also attended by Haifa Ismail, Executive Director for Athletics, Engagement and Leadership, as well as by the students’ parents and loved ones.

The Active Student Scholarship honors students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and active participation in campus organizations, interest and activity oriented and cultural clubs, community outreach initiatives, the Student Council and academic associations.

This semester’s Active Student Scholarship recipients are Adam Serhan, Ashhad Faisal, Hadi Amjad Mahmood, Izma Fatima, Karissa Kavinder Kumar Jain, Khadijah Ali Minhas, Leyan Mohammed Ali, Mahmoud Saber Atiyeh, Manisha Khanchandani, Mirra Swaminathan, Mohammad Mahmoud Abubaker, Mohammed Abdul Wahhab, Pavanjai Lokesh, Qais Hussein Abu Iktish, Salsabeel Mostafa Elsharkawy and  Vanshika Narendra Tulsiyani.

The Athletic Scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who have displayed athletic excellence, sportsmanship and consistent participation across varsity programs. This cohort represents students from the university’s swimming, basketball, cricket, football and powerlifting teams.

This semester’s Athletic Scholarship recipients are: Abdullah Tarique, Adnan Mahmood Al Najjar, Ahmad Chakif, Ali Awada, Ali Mohsen Eldemerdash, Alwyn Manosh Antony, Dina Mahmoud Shams, Jamal Ramadan Ashour, Kishan Girish, Lana El-Tannir, Leen Qais Saleh, Maya Jaafar, Nada Mahmoud Rasras, Nour Radwan,  Sarah Bawab and Thanseeha Charivupuradathil Biju.
