Electrical engineering team wins second place in IEEE UAE competition
A team of electrical engineering students from American University of Sharjah (AUS) won second place in the Common Design Project (CDP) Competition during the 8th IEEE UAE Student Day held at University of Sharjah on May 11, 2013. The competition is held annually with participation from almost all universities in the UAE.
The AUS team consisted of Omar Sweileh, Sharif Anani, Khalid Saeed, Abdalmonan Zahed and Yazan Emad, and they were supervised by Dr. Mohammad Jaradat, Visiting Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering.
The objective of the project was to design, implement and demonstrate a working prototype of a guided vehicle system, where a leading vehicle had to move through a defined route marked by black tape all along the route. The guided vehicle had to follow the leading vehicle without any kind of physical connection between the two.
A video of their winning design can be seen here.
