AUS appoints a Chief of Protocol
American University of Sharjah has appointed Saeed Mohamed Majid Al-Shamsi as the university's Chief of Protocol. Al-Shamsi will also act as Special Advisor to the Chancellor and Head of Security and will oversee the university's security team. He will also be the AUS liaison with the government departments, consulates and embassies.
The appointment was approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS.
Al Shamsi first joined AUS in 1999 as the Public Relations Director. Prior to AUS he was working in the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations (ADCO).
Al-Shamsi, who will report to the Office of the Chancellor, said, "It is an honor to be appointed the new Chief of Protocol. We, at AUS, are committed to ensuring a safe environment for all members of our multicultural community and providing the best living and learning environment for our community members."
The AUS student body comprises 99 nationalities, making the university's campus one of the most diverse in the region.
