AUSAA Board Members
As per our constitution and bylaws, the AUS Alumni Association Board serves as the executive committee of the AUSAA Council.
Our board's role governs the association and all overseas implementation and priorities in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws. It also performs other functions as the council may require and approve.
The board consists of seven members who are elected by the council and serve for two years.
The current members of our board are:
Ali Lootah graduated from AUS in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Design Management from CAAD. He is currently working at Emirates Airlines as a trainer and a recruiter. Lootah has several planned initiatives for AUS alumni, including bringing all alumni members together to engage them with activities and events inside and outside of AUS, and to ensure that AUS gets recognized for its strong alumni community around the world. As the AUSAA President, he represents the alumni association in the university community. The president, in partnership with OAAA, shall set annual goals for AUSAA and devise various initiatives for alumni engagement. “During my career, I have promoted AUS by applying what I learned during my academic years in the workplace. I hope I can serve future alumni so that they can profit from their AUS experience the way I have,” says Lootah.
Mahmoud Mian graduated from AUS in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduating from AUS, Mian worked in diverse fields from research and construction, to maritime. He has traveled extensively across the world and promoted AUS every chance he got at foreign offices in European, American and Asian countries to enhance student exchange and knowledge transfer programs. AUS is a place close to Mian’s heart. He has worked with many departments at AUS and helped fellow AUS alumni connect with other alumni professionally. “Being on the Alumni Board provides an opportunity for me to give back to AUS by promoting it in the way it deserves,” states Mian.
AUSAA Executive of the Council
Noora Alshehhi graduated from AUS in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Right after graduation, she started a career in audit. Alshehhi’s career progressed by working in government and international companies, attaining professional certifications to strengthen her professional profile. During that stage, she persued an executive MBA from Columbia Business School and London Business School. After spending more than ten years in the corporate world, she is currently embarking on a new journey by following an entrepreneur path focused on future technologies and block chain. With her service on the alumni board, Alshehhi hopes to keep AUS alumni connected, work closely with regional Chapters to have more engaged communities within their regions, engage alumni in the recruitment of students for AUS programs, and reach out to more industries to connect with AUS to provide more job opportunities for AUS students and alumni. As the Executive of the Council for AUSAA, she is responsible for managing official communications for AUSAA as well as its chapters and members. As part of the same role, she is also responsible for identifying and recommending alumni volunteers for OAAA and AUSAA.
Areej Makda graduated from AUS in 2021 with a Master of Business Administration. She works as an investment analyst in a leading government establishment in Sharjah. Her job entails preparing budgets, financial planning for events, creating financial reports and helping manage accounts. Makda represented AUS at the EBES conference 2021 in Spain where she presented a research paper on environmental management systems. She has also co-authored a book chapter on environmental management systems. Being part of the AUSAA Board, Makda feels she could help with recruitment of AUS students, career and professional development, event management and planning, and mentoring if required. As AUSAA Treasurer, she is responsible for maintaining up-to-date records of budgets, expenditures and AUSAA funds. She is also responsible for alumni giving and for preparing an annual budget for the AUSAA.
AUSAA Executive of Administration
Dania Atatreh graduated from AUS in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Right after graduation, she was offered a fully funded scholarship to pursue her master’s degree at AUS. Atatreh is also currently working as a GRA at AUS while doing an internship at General Electric. During her study years at AUS, she worked as a student assistant at the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs (OAAA) for three years. The skills and experience she gained from working at OAAA helped her understand the role the AUS Alumni Association plays in alumni engagement. Atatreh also did an internship at Schneider Electric, where she was offered a full-time job while still being an undergraduate student. As AUSAA Executive Administrator, she is responsible for the preparation of AUSAA Board and Council meetings, taking minutes of these meetings, and keeping records of all required documentation as per AUSAA policies. She is also responsible for coordinating duties pertaining to the AUSAA Board and the AUSAA Council.
Past AUSAA President
Mohamed Alsharhan graduated from AUS in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in policy research and practice at the University of Bath. He started his career as a research assistant at Masdar Institute, before serving as the head of the Innovation Unit at the UAE Ministry of Interior. Currently, he serves as a project’s manager at Dubai Future Foundation. He has several planned initiatives for AUS alumni, to enhance AUS’ global competitiveness.
Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs
Rania Salaheldin Morsi is the Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs at AUS. She was one of the staff members who joined AUS during its early years in 2001. Over the years, Morsi was promoted through the ranks and eventually appointed as the Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs in addition to her existing role leading the Development and Donor Relations track.
Morsi has been a part of OAAA since its inception in 2009 and contributed to building its operation from the scratch. OAAA has a multidimensional role within AUS channeled through multiple advancement activities of Development and Donor Relations, Corporate Relations, Alumni Affairs and Career Services.
Her career has followed a single trajectory leading to executive management and resource development in university administration. She sought employment with institutions that provided increased exposure to new skills and challenges that would lead her to a setting in university administration.
