MCM Student Receives Dubai Lynx 2018 Special Merit Award

AUS Mass Communication student Haya Maarouf has received a Special Merit Award in recognition of her “Unlock Your Wishes” campaign proposal in the Integrated Competition category of Dubai Lynx 2018.  Dubai Lynx 2018 is sponsored by Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC).

The STC Student Integrated Competition is a hunt for brilliant, unique creative talent from across the Middle East and North Africa region.  Haya, along with other students from a range of universities, worked on a brief to design a campaign for The Make-A-Wish Foundation, UAE which is part of a global non-profit organization with 38 affiliate offices around the world, in nearly 50 countries.  The student submitted a campaign that uses three channels of media to reach audiences of different demographics. The work was judged be leading adverting people.

Another MCM student, Dania Rizvi, was also shortlisted in the competition for her integrated ‘Make-A-Wish’ campaign.  Both students were mentored for the projects by Dr. Mohammed Ibahrine of the Mass Communication Department.

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication (MCM), Dr. Mohammad Ayish, noted that students’ engagement with industry practices and standards is a key feature of the success of the MCM Program.  “As a professional program, mass communication always thrives on students’ exposure to real-world industry practices,” he added.
