The faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) are actively engaged in diverse areas of research across the fields of natural sciences, mathematical sciences and the humanities and social sciences. As a consequence of this diversity, there are many different and rich research areas that include, but are not limited to, materials science, mathematical sciences, environmental sciences, intercultural communication and international relations.
We are very proud of our accomplished faculty who are actively engaged in extraordinary interdisciplinary research and academic work that generates knowledge which is of local and global relevance and impact. CAS faculty have been successful in attracting external funding from both the private and government sectors. In addition, their research activities have been supported through generous internal funding sources including the Faculty Research Grants (FRGs), Travel Grants and Sabbatical Leave Grants.
Our undergraduate and graduate students also have the opportunity to engage with faculty in cutting-edge and exciting research projects that include scholarly and creative work.
