74 student clubs participate in the AUS Club Fair

American University of Sharjah (AUS) celebrated its cultural diversity during Fall 2015 student Club Fair, which was inaugurated today, by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor, at the AUS Student Center. The two-day event features 74 ethnic and interest-oriented clubs and seven units from the Office of Student Affairs.

One of the university's largest events, the fair showcases how student participation in the student-led organizations on campus helps them pursue their personal interests outside the classroom, as well as build leadership skills. The Fall 2015 Club Fair introduced this semester three new clubs: the British Cultural Club, the Studio Club and the Filmmakers Club.

Organized by the Office of Student Affairs, the Club Fair highlights the university's campus diversity and introduces new students to the student-led organizations on campus. The AUS Student Center was filled with students eager to learn about many cultures on campus and to join the participating clubs.

"The Club Fair reflects our students' enthusiasm towards extracurricular activities. Our new students will surely enjoy this event, which opens doors for them to take advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities offered by the university. I encourage students to take part in our programs and spend their free time in meaningful activities that complement their academic pursuits and aid their personal growth and development," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.

"The Fall 2015 Club Fair is about learning other cultures and respecting them. The time and effort put into this Club Fair is very impressive and students are always eager to explore different things" said Huzaifa Imam, a junior student majoring in electrical engineering at AUS.

The opening ceremony of the fair which will continue until tomorrow, was attended by senior AUS officials and crowds of students.
