AUS faculty members assist Dubai school with accreditation needs
Faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) carried out a first of its kind professional training program - aimed at addressing accreditation needs - for teachers at the School of Modern Skills recently. During the visit the AUS faculty members trained math, science and English teachers at all grade levels in the area of "Differentiating Instruction," which provides different students with different ways to learn.
During three parallel sessions Mujo Mesanovic, Senior Instructor in Mathematics and Statistics; Dr. Amin Majdalawieh, Associate Professor in Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences; and Dr. Ahmad Al Issa, Associate Dean of CAS and Professor in English; trained the teachers in math, science and English respectively and addressed specific requirements sought by accreditation teams. Forty six teachers attended the training program that was tailored specifically to their needs.
Two more such sessions are planned in the spring semester in "Lesson Planning and Progress checks" and "Promoting Critical Thinking."
