AUS holds Annual Student Appreciation Awards 2013
Over 600 active students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) were honored for their extracurricular achievements for the academic year at the Annual Student Appreciation Awards 2013, yesterday, May 15, 2013.
Students from sports teams, student organizations, volunteer groups, university leadership programs and other student associations were honored at a special ceremony held at the AUS Sports Complex. The awards are held to promote the university's support towards student contribution and achievements in extracurricular activities.
The annual event promotes the university's diverse extracurricular programs and the multitude of out-of-classroom learning opportunities and the related student recognition programs available to AUS students.
Speaking at the ceremony were Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, Acting Chancellor and Provost, and Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
"While recognizing your efforts today, we also praise your good time keeping, your academic and non-academic performances and your continuous out-of-class participation that has kept us on our feet throughout the year," said Dr. Al Shehhi. "We all hope you keep building your portfolios in extracurricular areas while achieving academic excellence."
Hamdan Mohamed Al Maamari, President of the Student Council, also addressed the students.
