AUS hosts Third International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics

Experts from 42 countries shared their latest research insights at the Third International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics (ICMS'20) held at American University of Sharjah (AUS) February 6 to 9. Almost 200 delegates from both academia and industry gathered to share recent advances in research from all fields of mathematics, statistics and related areas. 

Topics covered included modeling cell migration, permutation matrices, financial statistics of cryptocurrencies, codes and graphs, partial differential equations and control, commutative algebra, dynamical modeling in biology, data mining and advanced numerical techniques and their applications. The conference program included 21 sessions covering 77 presentations, and a special issue of the journal Advances in Pure and Applied Mathematics will be dedicated to the conference.

Speaking about the ICMS'20, Dr. Hana Suleiman, Conference Chair and Associate Dean of the AUS College of Arts and Sciences, said:

“The conference is an embodiment of the research mission and spirit fostered at AUS and emphasizes the commitment by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to promote mathematics and its important role in the advancement of UAE society and increasing knowledge productivity and research in mathematical sciences in the region.”

The conference was organized by the the AUS Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Technical sponsors of the conference this year were the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Other sponsors included Lockheed Martin, Wiley and Cengage.
