Henkel Innovation Challenge – an opportunity beckons for AUS
Officials from Henkel showcased the Henkel Innovation Challenge to students of American University of Sharjah (AUS) at a recent visit to the university.
The Henkel Innovation Challenge is open to university students across UAE and Saudi Arabia and offers them a unique opportunity to bring forth their creativity on an international platform. The challenge involves developing a concept for an innovative and sustainability-related product or technology for one of Henkel's business areas.
The Innovation Challenge has generated a very encouraging response from students of various universities in both countries, far-exceeding the expectations of the Henkel team.
"American University of Sharjah continuously endeavors to develop capacity-building programs for qualified and talented students and young graduates, and provide them with the support and opportunities they deserve," said Dr. Nada Mourtada-Sabbah, AUS Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs. "Through the AUS Career Advancement division, Henkel Innovation Challenge offered this kind of opportunity to our students to acquire new skills and access a pathway to a brighter future."
Asli Tumer, Organization Development Manager-GCC, Henkel, said: "Our vision at Henkel is to be a global leader in brands and technologies. Driving change and innovation is one of our core competencies. Through the Henkel Innovation Challenge, we offer students the possibility of translating theoretical knowledge into practice and gaining business experience. We are excited to see new ideas that the students will bring with this simulation and to use this opportunity for employer branding purposes to attract the right talent for possible positions at Henkel."
The challenge invites students to create a new product or technology for a Henkel brand in 2050 and triple the value they create by promoting sustainable development. The best teams will develop their own idea supported by Henkel mentors and present it in front of a top-level Henkel management jury.
To apply, interested students should log on to www.henkelchallenge.com. Selected students will develop their projects with the support of a Henkel manager and will present it at the national or regional semi-finals in February 2013. The winning team will compete in the grand final between March 18 and 20, 2013, in Shanghai.
The winning team will receive an around-the-world ticket worth €10,000. Runners-up will receive €4,000 while third place winners get €2,000.
Last date for registration is December 12 so apply before it's too late!
