Guide for New Graduate Students

This page provides important information on finalizing your admission and settling into life as an AUS graduate student. Finalize Your Admission
To finalize your admission to AUS, you will need to do the following:
- Read your Admission Letter: Log in to your AUS account to check your Admission Letter for conditions and deadlines.
- Follow up with your graduate assistantship application: Contact the college admin mentioned in the admission letter.
- Attest your documents: To complete your file and register for courses, you will need to submit certified or attested original certificates and official university transcripts. as applicable. Refer to your Admission Letter for a list of required documents. Read more about attestation requirements for master’s degree programs and for PhD degree programs.
- Apply for your Qualification Recognition Report: If your bachelor’s and/or master’s degree is from a university outside the UAE, you must apply for a Qualification Recognition Report (QRR) from the UAE Ministry of Education. Some graduates of universities inside the UAE may also be required to present a Certificate of Equivalency or a Qualification Recognition report. - Book your English proficiency test or verify your score: In case you have not already done so, you will need to complete and submit your valid score report from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). TOEFL and IELTS score reports are valid for two calendar years. For more information and to book or verify your TOEFL or IELTS, please refer to the AUS Testing Center.
- Complete your admissions file: You will not be able to register for courses in your first semester until your admissions file is complete. Your file is considered complete only when all the requirements mentioned in the Admission Letter have been received by the Graduate Admissions Office. Please refer to your Admission Letter and emails received from the Graduate Admissions Office to note important deadlines and to see what documents are required for file completion.
If you have submitted a valid English language proficiency score (see above), you will receive an email with an invitation to book an online meeting with AUS Graduate Admissions staff to complete your file. During this session, you can discuss any holds you may have on your admission file. File completion takes place in July for fall semesters and in December for spring semesters.

- Deferring your application: You can defer enrollment to the subsequent semester, if your program has an intake for that semester, by submitting a request via apply.aus.edu. Master's | PhD
- Change of program: Now that you have been admitted to AUS, you cannot make changes to your original application before you enroll. If you want to change your program, you must submit a new application for your new intended program. Master's | PhD
Before You Arrive
Before arriving on campus, there are several essential tasks you must complete.
- Apply for your student visa, if required.
- Apply for student accommodation, if you plan to live on campus.
- Complete the University Health Services Medical Form and organize health insurance. As a new student, you will be required to submit a Medical Record Form to University Health Services (UHS). The Medical Record Form must be endorsed and stamped by a physician. It can be completed by AUS University Health Services or at any clinic or hospital. Medical insurance is compulsory for all AUS-sponsored students (that is, students with a visa sponsored by AUS) and for all students who don’t have health insurance coverage of their own. - Coordinate your airport pickup. New students can request pick-up service from Sharjah International Airport and Dubai International Airport . If you need pick-up service, please submit the Airport to Campus Transportation Form. An AUS representative will be assigned to welcome you at the airport. Orientation and Class Registration
Orientation
Graduate Student Orientation takes place the week before classes start and will provide you with the essential information you need to begin your journey at AUS. Orientation is extremely important to ensuring all new AUS students receive the best start to their graduate studies at AUS and is therefore mandatory. We will email you with all the information you need to participate in orientation closer to the event.
During orientation, we will introduce you to AUS and your college/school, help you connect with classmates, and introduce you to the various support services available to you as a graduate student.
Course registration also takes place during orientation. In the academic orientation for your college/school, you will learn about the course advising and course registration process. Please make sure you attend this very important session.
Completing your application file is mandatory for enrollment. File completion meetings are booked online with Graduate Admissions staff to show the required documents as stated in your Admission Letter.
