English (ENG)

The Department of English brings together faculty specializing in language with colleagues whose expertise is in literature. Our language professors excel in the pedagogy of teaching English as a second language, with a particular focus on the development of advanced composition skills. Their interest in pedagogy extends to the development of education policy, curriculum planning and teaching methodologies to advance English instruction. The literature faculty emphasizes the evolving use of the language in a variety of current contexts, including globalization, colonial and postcolonial studies, women’s issues, technology and film. Our goal is the development of creative expression skills that can inform, persuade and inspire to action.
