Welcome to the Events page for the Department of Physics at American University of Sharjah. Here, you can find detailed information on past, current and future events held right here on our campus. Our selection of events are curated to engage a general audience—those who enjoy physics as a hobby—as well as serious students and academicians. Each year, we hold a variety of colloquiums, seminars and day-long events, representing a wide range of physics-related topics, and host well-regarded physicists from all over the globe.
We are also the proud home of two flagship events:
Frontiers in Theoretical and Applied Physics (FTAPS): In collaboration with Emirates Mars Mission and Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), over the course of four days, practicing physicists, astronomers, and space and material scientists from around the world converge upon our campus to present the latest developments in the various dynamic fields of physics. The purpose of this international conference is to not only to inform but to also provide a space to exchange ideas, inspire collaborations, and network. Our inaugural conference was held in February 2017. For more details about the FTAPS2017, please click here.
AUS Physics Open Day (Funtastic FZX): The Physics Open Day is an outreach event geared towards local high school students who show promise in the study of physics. This day starts early and is packed with events including food, fun games, live displays, hands‐on activities, and a competition for high‐school physics projects where students can earn prizes and awards.
