General Information

Indoor Sports Facilities (AUS Sports Complex):

  • Multi-Courts (2 basketball, 2 volleyball & 2 badminton)
  • 50-meter Swimming Pool
  • Two Sauna Rooms
  • Two Fitness Centers
  • Aerobics/ Training Hall
  • Two Squash Courts
  • Table Tennis Hall

Outdoor Sports Facilities:

  • Sports Pavilion (Soccer Field & Running Track)
  • Cricket Ground and Practice Net
  • Baseball Field

Eligible Users

The following users may use all sports facilities during the hours of operation with a valid AUS ID card:

  • Registered Students
  • Faculty/Staff
  • Temporary Faculty/Staff
  • Dependent/Spouse
  • AUS Alumni
 General Rules and Guidelines
  1. A valid AUS ID card must be presented at the reception for the entry into the Sports Complex and Sports Pavilion. (Using others’ AUS ID card to enter the sports facilities is prohibited.)
  2. Users who have forgotten their AUS IDs can gain access by providing their AUS ID numbers or any other information that can be verified in the sign-in system (a maximum limit of three entries per semester only).
  3. All AUS Sports Facilities are mainly used for sports training, competition and recreational activities by students and faculty/staff members.
  4. All types of tobacco consumption is prohibited. AUS campus buildings, including the sports facilities, are smoke-free.
  5. Chewing gum, food and drinks are not allowed in the playing areas.
  6. Appropriate non-marking sports footwear must be worn whenever using the venues. (Proper footwear is necessary to protect individuals as well as the facility).
  7. Participants must wear appropriate sports attire while attending any sports activities.
  8. Formal pants, jeans, cutout jeans, string bikinis, see-through suits and unapproved footwear are not allowed. (Unsuitable clothing can be dangerous and confining when exercising and could pose risk of injury).
  9. Children under the age of 10 are not allowed in the Sports Complex facilities. (A parent’s and/or guardian’s supervision is needed for children between the age of 11 and 16).
  10. Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades and roller skates are prohibited.
  11. Pets are not allowed.
  12. Spirited competition is encouraged, but unsportsmanlike conduct and profanity are prohibited.
  13. Inappropriate behavior or attire that interferes with the operations of the sports facilities or fails to adhere to the published AUS policies is not permitted.
  14. Unauthorized commercial use of SARD sports facilities is strictly prohibited.
  15. Users are expected to abide by the specific rules for each facility.

DISCLAIMER: Users are entirely responsible for their own belongings and safety during the use of the sports facilities. AUS will not be responsible or liable for any injury, lost item, damage, illness, or death to a person or property.

Sports Complex (Indoor Sports Facilities)

Multi-Court Rules
  1. Only shoes with non-marking soles are allowed.
  2. Appropriate sports attire must be worn at all times while using the courts. Users must wear shirts and shoes at all times.
  3. Eating or drinking inside the court area is prohibited.
  4. Misusing or defacing any of the facilities or equipment is prohibited.
  5. Tampering with or forcefully passing through the divider curtain is prohibited.
Swimming Pool Rules
  1. Swimmers should take a shower before entering the pool.
  2. Swimmers must wear proper swim attire.
  3. Shoes are not allowed in the pool deck area.
  4. Running around the pool, horseplay, splashing water, fighting, breath-holding contests and shouting are prohibited.
  5. Food, beverages, oils and suntan lotion are not allowed in the pool area.
  6. Access to the swimming pool area may be refused to persons appearing to have any infectious skin diseases, colds, and sores or open wounds.
  7. Swimmers must use the pool ladder when getting in or out of the pool.
  8. Cameras and telephone cameras are not allowed in the pool area.
  9. The pool closes 30 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time of sports facilities.
  10. The lifeguard has the authority to dismiss any person who do not observe the swimming pool guidelines and rules.
Sauna Rules
  1. Users are requested to contact the lifeguard on duty for assistance.
  2. Always shower before entering the sauna.
  3. Children 16 years and below are not permitted to use the sauna.
  4. People with health problems and pregnant women are advised not to use the sauna.
  5. Taking photos, videos or sound recordings is not allowed inside the sauna.
  6. If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable leave the sauna immediately.
  7. For safety reasons, the ideal time limit for using the sauna is between 3 to 15 minutes.
  8. No more than four seated persons are allowed at a time inside the sauna.
  9. It is advised not to use lotion and oil in the sauna.
  10. Swimwear or towels must be used inside the sauna.
  11. Unnecessary operation of the control panel is prohibited.
  12. Performing exercises inside the sauna is prohibited.
  13. Keep the door closed when sauna heater is on.
Fitness Center Rules
  1. Return bars, dumbbells, weight lifting belts and weights to the appropriate place immediately after use.
  2. Proper workout attire and closed-toe sport shoes are required. (Open-toed shoes, sandals, jeans, high heels, leisure pants, slacks, blouse and dresses, etc. are prohibited).
  3. Users should be courteous to others by limiting the length of their workout at a single station/equipment when others are waiting.
  4. Users should always inspect the equipment for loose, frayed or worn parts before using and report the problem to staff on duty.
  5. Personal belongings must be kept in the lockers.
  6. All equipment should be returned to appropriate storage location after use.
  7. Seek permission of the staff on duty to relocate any equipment, benches, etc.
  8. Do not drop the weights. Weights must be kept away from the walls or mirrors due to the risk of damage or injury.
  9. Children 16 years and under are not permitted to use the Fitness Center.
  10. Food and drinks are not allowed. Water bottles may be used only if they are made of non-breakable materials and contain water only.  
  11. Always consult staff on duty for any guidance and assistance.  
  12. The Fitness Center closes 15 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time of sports facilities.
Aerobics/Training Hall

Aerobics sessions and circuit training are conducted in the exercise hall, which has all the relevant equipment such as mats, exercise balls, a built-in sound system and radio for listening to music. The exercise hall also offers members of the community a large space to exercise individually.

  1. Wear proper sports attire. Only shoes with non-marking soles are allowed.
  2. Foods, chewing gum and soft drinks are not allowed inside the hall.
  3. Equipment may not be relocated without permission of staff on duty.
  4. Users should be courteous to others by limiting the length of their workout at a single station/equipment when others are waiting.
Squash Court Rules
  1. Black-soled shoes are not allowed.
  2. Only two players are allowed inside the court at a time.

Outdoor Sports Facilities Rules

Sports Pavilion (Soccer Field & Running Track), Cricket Ground, Practice Net and Baseball Field.
  1. AUS ID card holders are entitled to use the facility.
  2. ID cards are non-transferable and may be used only by the person to whom they are issued.
  3. Proper sports attire is required at all times. Hard-soled shoes are not permitted inside the running track. Only blunt spikes or rubber-soled shoes are permitted in the track.
  4. No changing of attire is permitted outside the changing rooms.
  5. Bicycles, skates, roller blades and pets are not allowed inside the facility.
  6. Jumping over the fence is strictly prohibited.
  7. Glass containers are not permitted in the track area.
  8. No children under 16 are allowed in the Sports Pavilion building but can use the running track under the supervision of a parent/guardian.
  9. AUS teams have usage priority of the soccer pitch and running track for training, matches, competitions and special events.
  10. Children are not allowed inside the field/running track area during AUS official training sessions, matches, competitions, etc. 
  11. Spectators must maintain positive and acceptable behavior. Jumping over or sitting on partitions within the sport venue is prohibited.
  12. Moving of goalposts or any other equipment without supervision is not permitted.  
  13. The cricket field, cricket cage and baseball field should be reserved for group usage.
  14. All AUS campus buildings, including the Sports Pavilion, are non-smoking facilities.
  15. Posters/banners and any other advertising material are not allowed to be posted without the approval of SARD management.
  16. Taking photos, videos or sound recordings is not allowed in the changing rooms, restrooms, locker rooms and fitness center.
  17. Unauthorized commercial use of SARD sports facilities is strictly prohibited.
  18. Spirited participation is encouraged, but unsportsmanlike conduct and profanity are prohibited.
Changing Rooms and Restrooms
  1. SARD Management is not responsible for any loss or damage of personal belongings.
  2. Taking photos, videos or sound recordings is not allowed inside the changing rooms and restrooms.
  3. Lockers are available in changing rooms during the hours of operation. They are not to be used for overnight storage. At closing time, personal items will be removed and placed in the reception.

 

 Note: SARD staff have the authority to enforce general and specific rules of the facility by dismissing any person who doesn’t observe sports facilities guidelines and rules.

 

Policies

Equipment

SARD has a limited supply of sports equipment available. Equipment is supplied only to team members and during organized training sessions. Users are encouraged to bring in their own sports equipment.

Equipment can be borrowed from SARD for approved activities of the various AUS departments. Requests in this regard should be submitted by the concerned authorities 48 hours in advance.

Guests
  1. AUS students/faculty/staff members are allowed to bring in one guest at a time.
  2. The sponsoring AUS student/faculty/staff member must sign in their guest at the reception at the time of visit.
  3. No guest of an AUS student/faculty/staff member is allowed to use the facility more than three times in a given semester.
  4. Guests must adhere to all rules and regulations of the facility.
  5. The sponsor must accompany the guest at all times during his or her stay in the sports facility.
  6. Alumni and faculty/staff dependents are not entitled to bring guests.
Personal Belongings

Lockers are available in changing rooms during the hours of operation and are not to be used for overnight storage. At closing time, personal items will be removed and placed in the reception. The owner can claim lost/found items upon proving ownership at the reception.

Reservations

First priority in scheduling will be given to instructional use and organized sports activities of SARD.

All remaining time slots will be used to accommodate the AUS student body, faculty and staff. The management reserves the right to restrict the use of the facilities due to athletic, campus activities or special events. Individuals, partners or teams can reserve the indoor and outdoor sports courts through the following procedures:

  1. Facility reservations can be made in person at the Sports Complex reception desk or by calling 06 515 2778.
  2. Reservations should be made 48 hours before the intended playing time.
  3. Reservations are administered by the Student Athletics and Recreation staff on duty and are accepted up to four days in advance.
  4. AUS community members reserving facilities for team sports are allowed to bring a maximum of two guests per group.
  5. The person who made the reservation must claim the court in person at the Sports Complex reception desk and deposit his/her AUS ID 15 minutes before the reserved time slot. Courts not occupied within 15 minutes after the scheduled reservation time become available for other users on a first-come, first-served basis.
  6. Reservations are not allowed for two consecutive hours. Partners or groups may not reserve the same court for back-to-back hours.
  7. Disregard and abuse of the reservation policy may lead to the cancellation of reservation privileges in future.
  8. AUS students, staff, faculty and alumni are entitled to reserve the facility.
  9. All reservations end 15 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time of sports facilities.
  10. For all reservations, general and specific rules apply.
Signs

All temporary signs, class/program announcements and other general notices should be submitted to the management of Student Athletics and Recreation for approval. Only approved signs will be posted.

Photography/Videography in the Facility 

Taking photos, videos or sound recordings is prohibited in the changing rooms, restrooms, locker area, swimming pool, and fitness centers for the purpose of privacy of others.

Hours of Operation
  • The Sports Complex facilities are open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday–Thursday (closed on Friday).
  • The Sports Pavilion is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday –Thursday and 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Saturday. (Closed on Friday).
  • The sports facilities are closed during official university holidays.
